RTA Stock Cabinets vs Semi Custom Cabinets

When you're in the market for new kitchen or bathroom cabinets, understanding the differences between cabinet types is crucial. The ideal selection for your space depends on numerous factors such as budget, finishing choices, design, and delivery duration, to mention a few. Given the multitude of decisions involved in a kitchen makeover, we simplify things by highlighting the distinctions between our two primary cabinet categories: Stock and Semi-Custom.

To begin, it's essential to comprehend the distinctions between stock and semi-custom cabinets. While going through this piece, remember that these terminologies describe their production process, not the cabinets' quality. Every cabinet at Prime Cabinetry is crafted using top-tier materials and finishes. For more insights, refer to our Product FAQs.

What are stock cabinets?

These are pre-manufactured kitchen and bathroom cabinets designed for easy purchasing. They come in set dimensions, usually increasing in three-inch steps. Since all items are readily available, once you place an order, your cabinets are selected, packed, and sent to you in about a week. When browsing through the door style and finish options in our stock cabinet range, our website provides an accurate representation of our offerings, catering to roughly 95% of design needs.

Quality Granite and Cabinets provides both RTA (ready-to-assemble) and pre-assembled stock cabinets.

Standard Widths:

  • 9” wide - 36” wide base cabinets in increments of 3”

  • 9” wide - 36” wide wall cabinets in increments of 3”

Standard Depth:

  • 24” deep base cabinets

  • 12” deep wall cabinets

What are semi-custom cabinets?

Semi-custom kitchen and bathroom cabinets grant greater adaptability in dimensions, enhanced finish choices, and a broader assortment of SKUs. While they aren't wholly customizable, as the name suggests, semi-custom cabinets afford more personalization options compared to stock cabinets. They can cater to almost all design preferences and diminish the necessity for fillers and onsite adjustments thanks to their expansive SKU availability. However, this added versatility means that the delivery time for semi-custom cabinets is extended, typically ranging from 7 to 12 weeks.

Ultimately, the best cabinet choice for your kitchen or bathroom renovation boils down to your individual tastes and budget constraints. Work with one of our trained sales and we'll work within your preferences to find something that meets your needs.
